Alumni and Friends of King’s College are invited to read together the short story collection, A Curious Land: Stories from Home by fiction writer Susan Muaddi Darraj. Darraj is the King’s Visiting Writer this year and will present a public reading with Q & A on Thursday, April 13 in the Burke Auditorium of the King’s McGowan building. The event will be in-person but will also be live-streamed via Zoom. For those in-person, there will be copies of her books for sale.
Following the public reading, at approximately 8:30 p.m. all are welcome to attend the Alumni Book Club discussion about A Curious Land, led by Corine Coniglio, Ph.D., King’s Class of 1992 and Associate Technical Professor of English. This portion of the event will be via Zoom only.
When you register indicate if you will be joining through Zoom or if you plan to attend the public reading in person.
A Curious Land: Stories from Home, was named the winner of the AWP Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction, judged by Jaime Manrique. It also won the 2016 Arab American Book Award, a 2016 American Book Award, and was shortlisted for a Palestine Book Award. Her previous short story collection, The Inheritance of Exile, was published in 2007 by University of Notre Dame Press.

The public reading with Susan Muaddir Darraj will be live-streamed via Zoom. Following her pc reading, there is the opportunity to hop on another ZOom with King's Alumni and Friends Book Club to discuss A Curious Land with King's Faculty member Corine Coniglio. Darraj will not be part of this Zoom.
