Tuesday of the Second Week of Advent
By Megan Casey, Associate Dean of Students for Residence Life

One of the first conversations we have each year in Residence Life training is about the importance of relationships and community in the work that we do. The work of community building has always been integral to our work, but even more so these last two years. The isolation of the pandemic has underscored the importance of community.

This year, especially, our students are working so hard to bring community life back to the forefront of their King’s experience. They are resilient and help each other navigate the challenges of their lives. Watching them grow and work through life’s challenges with each other for support and guidance is nothing short of excellent. They also enjoy each other! Watching them gather and celebrate life’s successes and accomplishments with each other gives hope for the future, and the community we all, collectively, are a part of.

Looking to our students these past two years has helped me experience the resilience and joy of our community anew.
