Feast of St. Andrew, Apostle
By Tom Smith '77, Chair of the Board

Recently, a staff member of our King’s community was in need of specialized medical care in order to survive. When some of my fellow board members heard of this need, they were able to connect our employee with the care they needed for treatment. The ability to get this treatment was truly a miracle. Perhaps more miraculous was the care and kindness that members of the King’s community at all levels provided for our employee. It enabled them to return to work and also provided their family with an incremental 8 months of quality time to spend with their loved one.

We make it our mission here at King’s to transform the minds and hearts of our students with zeal in communities of hope. We are blessed to witness that transformation in our students and the accomplishments they celebrate as they leave campus, serve the common good and make an impact in other communities. I am reminded often by so many remarkable members of our community that this mission isn’t just something that we talk about or teach, but something that we live. We get to witness the transformation in our students, but also experience it when we see the care that members of our community have for all of those who share our common mission.

It is so heartwarming for me to experience firsthand the support that is shown for members of the King’s family when they face unexpected challenges in their lives. So many are willing to help ease the burden of life’s ups and downs in any way that they can. We are truly better when we are together – students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, benefactors and friends – the entire King’s College community!
