Advent 2021 - #bettertogether

During the Advent season, we are invited to prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas. The themes of expectation, waiting and hope often mark that preparation. This year, our Advent reflection series will focus on how community prepares us for greater things: community helps us to face the unexpected, see things in a new light, rejoice and experience joy and believe more deeply in ourselves, in each other and in God.

For us in the Congregation of Holy Cross, community is at the heart of our life and ministry. We live in community, work in community and pray in community, not as individuals, but as a brotherhood. It is our hope that we’ll have the most to share individually when we combine our life and efforts with others. Fr. Brogan and I share the shortest (1 semester) and longest (40 years) tenure of the Holy Cross community here at King’s. You don’t have to be here for 40 years, though, to know that the King’s community helps bring out the most in each of its members. The Student Government Association chose the theme #bettertogether to mark this academic year.

On behalf of the King's College Alumni Office, Campus Ministry, and the Holy Cross Community here at King’s, we thank you for being part of the King’s Community. And we hope that this Advent season, the King’s College community, through these daily reflections, will help you prepare to receive Christ anew this Christmas.

We wish you a blessed Advent.

Fr. Charles Kociolek, C.S.C.
Fr. Brogan Ryan, C.S.C.
